Skincare trends you should drop this 2021

In a few days, the year 2020 will end. It has been a very chaotic year for everyone for many, many reasons. It has taught us many things like taking care of oneself, rediscovering hobbies you used to love when you were younger, and being more self-aware of what is happening around you. While doing all these, we have realized that there are things better left in this year and we should not try to bring it with us this coming 2021. Like clothing, old bad habits or bad friends, and skin care trends. Most of us stayed in our house for a long time and of course, things will get boring and what happens when you are bored? You browse in the internet. While doing that you will see trendy stuff that says “if you do this in your house, your skin will look better” or “this trick or product will make your skin problems disappear”. Since many people are doing it and most of them say it works, we tend to be more curious and try it ourselves. Some of these tricks work, some of them do not. But did you know that trendy skin care products or routine can bring harm to your skin? So, let us help you leave those skin care trends in 2020 so that new and better skin care routines may open for you in 2021. Let us start.

Skin gritting. Skin gritting is said to be a way of removing the grime from your pores. The deep cleansing technique uses a number of steps involving oil cleansing, clay masks, and facial massaging to dislodge “grits.” This sounds good right? But it really does not help you remove blackheads from your skin. A dermatologist said that people with sensitive skin and conditions like acne should be careful when skin gritting. Oils, acids, and masks can “certainly” irritate the skin. Clay, in particular, can dry skin out. So, leave this skin cleansing method in 2020.

High frequency facial wand. The safe, gentle oscillating and oxygenating power of high-frequency electrical currents has been shown to enhance blood circulation, increase collagen and elastin production, eliminate toxins and acne-causing bacteria, encourage lymphatic drainage, and improve skin care product absorption. High frequency facial wand is not entirely bad for your skin but bad for your wallet. It is highly expensive if you want your skin to improve, buying yourself a good cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Instead of wasting money to one product.

Anti-pollution skin care. What is anti-pollution skin care? Products that are marketed as anti-pollution help shield the skin from harmful dust particles, very similar to how sunscreens work. Other skincare products remove pollutants from the skin after you have been exposed. Although everyone agrees that pollution is definitely bad for your skin, marketing products that claim they have anti-pollution ingredient in their products is not true. There is no claim that products with anti-pollution marking have a more special way of fighting off harmful things on your skin. Just like stated above, cleansing, moisturizing, and putting on sunscreen is the best way to protect your skin.

CBD Oil. CBD oil has a perfect balance of nutrients and substances that will nourish and moisturize your skin. It helps to stop the peeling of the skin, rough patches, cuts, and cracks. CBD oil products have anti-inflammatory and moisturizing healing benefits. This product would be good if there were more studies that focus on CBD oil as beneficial to your skin. Since it is a little bit hard to get access to the main ingredient of CBD oil because there is still a debate if marijuana should be legalized for medical use. CBD oil is a premature product since we only get to see that instant benefits of it but it still needs more research for it to be properly used and not harm your skin.

Full face waxing. Facial wax works with either warm or cool wax that hardens against the area of skin with unwanted hairs. It's then removed quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth, taking the roots along with it. If you're looking for long-lasting smoothness, then facial waxing may be an option worth considering. Not saying that this should be left behind in 2020, maybe just do it properly and actually take care of your face after waxing. Because if your face is not treated properly after waxing it, it will cause acne and other skin irritations.
