Curly hair has always been a bit harder to take care of. If you dry your hair more vigorously, your curls will be ruined and turned into frizz. If you use too many styling products, your curls will drop and if you use too little, your curls will be all over the place. With so many things to look out for, managing curly hair can be a source of a lot of frustration. But, don’t despair because there is a simple fix, all you need to do is use the right towel for drying your hair - a hammam towel.
Why Is A Hammam Towel The Best Towel For Curly Hair?
So, why a hammam towel? Well, the root of the issue of messy curly hair stirs from the towel that you are drying your hair with. Usual bath towels cause a lot of frizz to the hair, even if you dry your hair gently. And if you rub your hair with the towel, your curly hair will become very messy.
Hammam towels, on the other hand, are made for 100% natural cotton that is flat woven, which makes them more absorbent. That means that you won’t have to rub your hair with the hammam towel as much with a regular towel to dry your curly hair, which will help to shape your curls better. Besides that, it also causes less frizz even if you do decide to dry your hair a little more vigorously.
How To Use A Hammam Towel For Curly Hair?
Although using a hammam towel on its own can help you style your curly hair more easily, we’d like to share a few tips on how to use the hammam towel optimally for curly hair. Here is how to do it:
Always use the hammam towel on your hair right after you get out from under the water. There are two ways to use it depending on how you plan on drying your hair. If you want to dry your hair naturally, then before wrapping your hair in your hammam towel make sure that you place the hammam towel laid out on your palms. Then, with your head downwards towards the floor, catch the ends of your hair with the hammam towel, and gently push them upwards.
Then simply squeeze your hair to make sure that you are getting out most of the moisture of your hair. Repeat a few times, until you finish this process with all strands of your hair. Then all you have to do is to apply your usual hair products, repeat the same process one more time and wrap your hair in the hammam towel. Then simply let your hair dry itself naturally.
If you are planning to dry your hair with a hairdryer, then the process is similar, yet a bit different. First off, once you get from under the water, catch your hair with the hammam towel in the same way as we described above. However, this time, don’t aim to squeeze as much of the moisture out of your hair. Simply squeeze gently to absorb enough extra moisture so that your hair will stop dripping a lot of water. Then, apply your hair products on your wet hair.
Once you apply your hair products, place a part of the hammam towel over your hand, and gently start drying off your roots. You can use more vigorous movements if you are in a hurry, but if you have a bit of time be gentler if you want to avoid the extra volume of your hair. Now, simply dry your hair with the hairdryer.
Extra Tip: Aim to first dry the roots of your hair with the hairdryer, and then go over the rest of your hair. By doing so, you will avoid creating frizz with your hairdryer.
We recommend that even if you are in a hurry and you need to dry your hair faster, to make sure you let your hair dry naturally as often as possible, or to at least dry your roots, and leave the rest dry naturally, to avoid drying out your hair. Remember, just like your skin, your curly hair is also more prone to drying out in the winter, so make sure you take good care of it!
